1. Surf Camp Australia, New South Wales

Rookie surfer? If this sounds a bit like you then Surf Camp Australia will certainly tick the box. They offer retreat packages from 2 to 7-day trips, conveniently located just two hours from Sydney. You’ll learn how to surf from the best of the best, who are super passionate about what they do. Everyone loves the super friendly atmosphere, free surf equipment, free transportation and great food! Not just that – you’ll also get free photos and Rip Curl vouchers at the end of the camp!

2. G-Land Bobby’s Surf Camp: East Java, Indonesia

Established in 1975, Bobby’s Surf Camp is known to be the first and original surf camp, located in the middle of a national park. Escape the madness of mainland Bali and take a short boat ride over to Grajagan on the island of Java, where you’ll instantly fall in love with the deserted ambiance and wondrous waves. This particular surf camp draws in surfers of all kinds looking to test their surf skills and enjoy life in isolation, living tucked away in jungle treehouses. Are you up for the challenge?

3. Las Olas: Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

This all-female surf camp is going to rock your world. Since 1997, Las Olas has introduced thousands of women to warm water surfing – priding themselves on support rather than competition, all while developing inner and external body strength through the art of surf. The camp is well worth its expense, it will feel like the best vacation you’ve ever had. Expect on-site massage therapists, morning yoga and cabana-front villas plotted right in front of the ocean – leaving you to fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Feel empowered through the art of play at Las Olas.

4. Chill In Ericeira Beachhouse: Ericeira, Portugal

Just 35 minutes from Lisbon, Chill In Ericeira is your next stop surf camp. Created by former Portuguese surf champion Joana Rocha and Italian surfer Edo Cavarretta in a traditional Portuguese house blooming with color and funky interior design. Their huge rooftop terrace is loved by lodgers, with unblocked views of Praia do Sul which lies just 100 meters from the beach house itself. If you’re a beginner or intermediate surfer then you’re bound to have a great experience here with a super fun and friendly crew!

5. Costeno Beach Hostel: Santa Marta, Colombia

Once a coconut farm, Costeno Beach has paved its way into being one of Colombia’s must-visit stays for backpackers. It’s the only official surf camp in the area, so you better book ahead of time to secure your spot! It’s located in the most dreamy setting in Tayrona National Park, hidden deep within the jungle and long swathes of beach stretching for miles (ps: there’s glowing plankton here at night!). Enjoy delicious food at the hostels restaurant and play games with the rest of your fellow lodgers in the evening. Surf lessons cost as little as $15 – but make sure you’re going with an instructor or friend, the currents can be pretty gnarly.
